This barn conversion featured on Grand Designs and Alchemilla Architects were responsible for the construction detailing and energy efficiency concept.

There was also a little bit of hands-on help with the straw-bale internal wall rendering. Due to the owners being very hands-on every detail had to be thought through and agreed. A few things fell by the wayside, such as the mechanical ventilation with heat recovery and the triple-glazed windows, which would have made the building much more comfortable and efficient. However, the building is completely self-sufficient in water and electricity and the owners are very happy with their home.
