The owners of this cottage needed more space for their growing family and asked us to design an extension to the rear for a new kitchen and two more bedrooms on the first floor.

A previous extension had been carried out using SIPS panels, which made adding a first floor over it difficult, but was overcome by using steel beams. The new timber frame construction is very energy efficient and was otherwise easy and quick to build.
